Fans have been clamoring for a Bloodborne remake or remaster for a long time now, and despite no hints of it ever coming, they have had their hopes up. Miyazaki has now spoken about a potential remake of the game, and it might be coming for new hardware, possibly the PlayStation 6.

Game Director Miyazaki spoke to Eurogamer about the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and he was also asked about a Bloodborne remake. Miyazaki said that he is aware of the calls for the remake, adding that the game is “dear” to him as well, and it makes him very happy to see fans passionate about it.

Miyazaki also added that hearing the “passionate voices” call for a remake makes him very thrilled and fortunate to have worked on the game. Miyazaki was also asked if the remake would benefit from newer hardware that could make the game much better in terms of gameplay and visuals.

Miyazaki’s comments have kept the players’ hope alive for the remake. Talking about the remake, Miyazaki said that new hardware is an important part of giving “value” to the remakes. He stated:

I think having new hardware is definitely part of what gives these remakes value. Things you weren’t able to achieve on previous generations of hardware, ways you weren’t able to render specific expressions—[new hardware] sometimes makes it possible.

He further added that new hardware allows players to appreciate the game more, which is a “simple reason” for releasing remakes on it. He also said that “accessibility is important” and that it could be a “driving force between bringing an old game to a new platform.”

Could Bloodborne Remake Launch for PlayStation 6?

The comments from Miyazaki are true, as the remake of Demon’s Souls, which was released as a launch title for PS5 back in 2020, makes use of the new tech in Sony’s latest hardware and has been widely appreciated for how better it looks.

The game comes with better visuals and animation that don’t make it feel like it was released over a decade and a half ago. Bloodborne was released almost 9 years ago, in 2015, for PS4 and has remained exclusive to the platform to this date.

Several other FromSoftware games have remakes and ports for other platforms but not Bloodborne, maybe because Sony wanted to wait for better hardware that could be PS6. Moreover, Sony has already said that the PS5 is in the latter stage of its life cycle, so players may get the remake on the PS6.
