The man behind Elden Ring, which also happens to be Game of the Year 2022 and FromSoftware’s best-selling IP yet, has unfortunately disclosed how the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will be the only extension of content players will be getting. While this is sad news for many, it also opens up his timeline to finally work on some projects fans have been longing for, like Dark Souls 4.

As stated in an interview via a Chinese outlet, Campfire Camp, Miyazaki revealed how Shadow of the Erdtree is the “first and final DLC” that Elden Ring will be getting. This statement not only opens up the opportunities for a fully-fledged sequel for the game in the future, but also opens the gate for the studio to explore some of their other IPs as well.
So far, there have been no official announcements from FromSoftware with respect to the studio;s next move after Elden Ring’s DLC. However, not only does this mean Miyazaki will finally be free to come up with new ideas once again, but he might even go back to an old trilogy.
Dark Souls 4 – What Can One Expect?
Bearing in mind how the director is currently working on building open-world games, like Elden Ring and its upcoming DLC, a Dark Souls game that does not have a linear story base can soon prove to be a thing as Miyazaki strives to perfect his craft.
