Chris Pratt and James Gunn are pretty good friends after having worked together in MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies. They pretty much have been through thick and thin, battling the extensive negative criticism before the movie’s release to Gunn’s dismissal from the last movie following a series of resurfaced tweets.
Another thing share in common and makes them bond is their sense of humor. The result of which was the wedding speech that Gunn wrote for Pratt to read at his wedding. A hilarious monologue, it left the audience in fits of laughter and Pratt embarrassed for he was forced to acknowledge how much prettier Gunn’s wife was in comparison to his.
James Gunn Wrote a Wedding Speech For Chris Pratt
James Gunn and Chris Pratt have turned into the best of friends ever since they worked on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies. While Gunn was somewhat of an established name, Pratt was relatively unknown, and their time together on their first Marvel movie led to a friendship that still exists.
Their friendship eventually led to Gunn inviting Pratt to his wedding with actress Jennifer Holland. While deciding on the speech that Pratt would give at the wedding, they came up with a brilliant idea which involved Gunn writing a hilarious speech for Pratt to read. While on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, Gunn shared how the idea actually came about.
“We were flying back from San Diego Comic-Con and we were talking about what he was going to read at my wedding, and then we came up with that concept together.”
While the speech involved Pratt stating that all he is and has achieved is because of Gunn, it also contained some embarrassing statements about how Gunn’s wife is prettier than Katherine Schwarzenegger.
Chris Pratt Was Forced to Acknowledge James Gunn’s Wife is Prettier Than His
While James Gunn is married to Jennifer Holland, Chris Pratt is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger. By the time Gunn’s wedding to Holland, Pratt was already happily married. But in the speech that he was supposed to give at Gunn’s wedding, the actor was forced to read some embarrassing lines that would have otherwise been problematic.
“I’ve never shared this, but it’s like I wrote the speech. Then he comes up and says, ‘My name is Chris Pratt,’ and then he talks about how foxy my wife is, and he’s like, ‘Yeah, I married Katherine. She’s pretty good.’ He would break, and he’d be like, ‘I’m sorry, Catherine, I didn’t write this.’ And he goes on and talks about how much better the Guardians movies are than the Jurassic World movies. He was so funny.”
Also stating lines like “His wife is much prettier than my wife”, Pratt was left red but he maintained the act and delivered an amazing speech. While the chances of fans seeing a video of the said speech are next to zero, they still hope that they might someday get to see it.
