Hogs of War, the turn-based tactical game is coming back after it was originally released back in 2000 for PlayStation 1. The game was developed by Infogrames Sheffield House and published by Infogrames.
Hogs of War remaster was first announced back in March 2019 with no release date and left the fans anticipating the game. New information has now been shared by the developers that the Kickstarter campaign will soon begin for the game.
Hogs of War was initially released to mixed reviews but gained a cult following on PS1, especially with its inspirations from World War 1 that made the game more serious, with the hogs equipped with real-world weapons as soldiers. The game was also famous for its comical one-liners that the characters would say even while they were dying.
Hogs of War Is Making a Comeback With Remastered Version
The popular Hogs of War game is finally coming back with a remastered version. The developers announced the Kickstarter campaign as they look to raise money. The campaign starts on October 17 at 4 pm UK time and lasts for a month until November 16 at 9 pm UK time. The developers aim to raise £150,000 initially.

The developers said that reaching this goal would only help them complete the base game. It does not guarantee that all the other plans for the Hogs of War remaster will be achieved. The developers also revealed other plans as stretch goals for the game such as a PC port, online networking, new cheat codes, and game options that will cost extra money.
Talking about the game and the Kickstarter campaign to Metro back in July, Hogs of War remaster designer and community manager Owen Mason-Burns stated that the team is quite divided about it. He stated,
“We have one half that are very optimistic like me, and then, we have the other side that are kind of pessimistic, but we then have a plan in place if the Kickstarter somehow flops. The one thing we can confirm is that, regardless of what happens with the Kickstarter, Hogs Of War Lardcore will be released one way or another.”
He continued,
“We do have the financial backing behind us to release the most basic release of the game, I suppose, if we don’t get that additional funding from the Kickstarter. But of course, the majority of fans are going to want the big stuff.”
The new game options are headshot damage, subtitles, colorblind settings, single-player campaign rebalancing, an achievement system, and a new difficulty level called Ultra Hard Mode campaign, among more unrevealed additions that players could see in the game. The highest stretch goal is online networking for PC and PlayStation, and other additional goals.
Hogs of War Lardcore will have a total of 13 unique Pledge Tiers and each of these tiers will contain physical and digital rewards. Players investing will also get exclusive Kickstarter headwear, weapon skins, backpacks, and the chance of getting the name up with team Lardcore. However, due to the production costs, only physical item rewards will be included in a select number of tiers.
When the camping ends, fans will also be provided with a backer survey containing questions that they’ll need to answer to get the pledged tiers. However, when the campaign page goes online, fans will be able to see a breakdown of all goals.
