Melissa Fumero interacted with some noteworthy co-stars, including Andy Samberg, whose contributions to comedy have solidified his status as a modern-day comedic titan. The show’s foundation is the dynamic between Jake Peralta, the skilled yet quirky detective, and Amy Santiago, the officer who follows the rules and loves binders.

In an interview with Good Housekeeping, Fumero had mentioned feeling impressed and slightly intimidated while filming with Samberg.

“The first day of rehearsal, I was intimidated, because I’m a big SNL fan. It was like, ‘Holy crap, I’m working with Andy Samberg!’ He turned out to be really nice, so then I thought, ‘Oh, this is awesome! Now he’s my friend. Andy’s brain is constantly going. I’d expected this zany, crazy, energetic type of guy, but he’s actually very laid-back and sweet.”

However, it wasn’t Andy Samberg, Braugher, or Crews who had her trembling in her police boots. It was The Untouchable – Kevin Cozner, Captain Holt’s husband, played impeccably by Marc Evan Jackson with his pristine deadpan delivery.

Although his screen time may not be as extensive as the main characters, Jackson’s comedic talent is on par with the greats. It was Jackson who truly made Fumero nervous, not anyone else.
