Unlike Game of Thrones, which saw Daenerys Targaryen helming three dragons – Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion, keeping account of the dragons in its prequel series has been a bit complex. Considering House of the Dragon sees House Targaryen at its strongest, as it takes place prior to the civil war between the two factions, we get to witness a lot more of the dragons in season one.

And with season two set to mark the beginning of the Targaryen civil war, the two teasers released by HBO have given us a glimpse of more dragons that will make their appearance in Westeros.

Aegon’s Dragon Sunfyre

While Sunfyre was featured briefly in the seventh episode of season one, the graceful golden dragon will finally get a proper introduction in the second season. Said to be the most beautiful of all the 17 dragons at House Targaryen’s disposal, the magnificent male dragon, which inspired the green and golden Targaryen banners, will see Aegon II Targaryen as its rider.

Baela Targaryen’s Moondancer

While prominently smaller than the likes of Vermithor or Vhagar, Moondancer can still be a formidable force in the hands of Baela Targaryen. With the trailer seeing the fearless rider raging on its back, the young she-dragon resembles its appearance from the book, possessing a pale green slender body with white horns.

Rhaena Targaryen’s Morning

Unlike Baela, the youngest daughter to Daemon Targaryen and Laena Velaryon was left without a dragon in Season One, as her egg didn’t hatch. But as the lore goes, the egg hatches from Syrax’s clutch during Dance of the Dragons. This means the upcoming season might see the young she-dragon in action, but considering she is too small to be taken into the battle, she might survive the civil war.

Ulf the White’s Silverwing

Living in her lair since 93 AC on Dragonmount, the she-dragon has been left without a rider since losing Jaehaerys’ wife Alysanne. Per the lore, on Prince Jacaerys Velaryon’s call, who is in need of dragon riders, Ulf the White will claim the beast. Set to be played by Tom Bennett, in the books, Ulf takes Silverwing to the Battle of the Gullet.

King Jaeherys I’s Vermithor

One of the largest living dragons to ever grace the skies of Westeros remains unacclaimed at the start of the civil war between the two factions within the House. Previously helmed by Daemon Targaryen’s grandfather King Jaehaerys I, the unacclaimed beast briefly appears in The Black Queen episode. As the lore goes, it’ll be claimed by Hugh Hammer and will be an asset in the Battle of the Gullet.

With the second season doubling down on the firepower, fans are enthralled to see how the Dance of the Dragons is translated onscreen. Considering George R.R. Martin is eyeing to get more seasons to greenlight, we can hope to see the remainder of the 17 dragons at House Targaryen’s disposal as the story moves forward.

House of the Dragon season 2 will premiere on June 16.
