The trailer for House of the Dragons Season 2 features a scene where Queen Helaena is held at knife-point by a character played by English actor Mark Stobbart. Stobbart will play the character Cheese in the series, alongside the character Blood, played by Sam C. Wilson, both being two assassins for hire. According to Fire & Blood, Blood is a former butcher, and Cheese is a ratcatcher, although their past remains unknown.

Both characters are hired by Prince Daemon Targaryen through his spymaster Mysaria to enact revenge for the death of his son. Their mission is to kill one of the sons of King Aegon II and Queen Helaena. The glimpse in the trailer suggests that one of the most horrific deaths in the series may unfold in Season 2. The prequel to Game of Thrones is expected to make it as gruesome as described in the books, considering the brutality of Lucerys’s death scene.

In the sequence from the book, Blood and Cheese infiltrate the castle through a forgotten passageway, leveraging Cheese’s knowledge of Red Keep’s secrets. They enter Queen Alicent Hightower’s chambers and wait for Queen Helaena’s arrival along with her three children, Princes Jaehaerys & Maelor, and their sister Princess Jaehaera. Blood seizes Prince Jaehaerys, while Cheese takes hold of Prince Maelor as soon as they arrive.

The duo reveals themselves as debt collectors, forcing Helaena to choose one of her sons to be killed. When the Queen pleads for them to kill her instead, Blood adamantly refuses, and Cheese issues a chilling warning that Blood will r*pe her daughter if she fails to make a choice. Helaena tearfully chooses Maelor, however, the sadistic killers callously behead Prince Jaehaerys and take off with his head.

The first season has already set in motion the events leading up to the Dance of the Dragons. The Blood and Cheese sequence acts as a catalyst, pushing both the greens and blacks to unprecedented extremes. It eventually begins the open civil war between the two factions. Blood is captured as he tries to escape and is tortured for information. During his torment, he reveals Daemon and Mysaria’s names and ultimately dies from his torture.

Cheese escapes, but King Aegon orders the execution of all ratcatchers in the city. This grim event turns the public sentiment against Princess Rhaenyra. The aftermath leaves Queen Helaena entirely broken, leading her down the road of depression. House of the Dragon set photos also reveal a funeral scene, which is attended by both Queen Helaena and Queen Alicent.

The first episode of House of the Dragon Season 2 will possibly set up the Blood and Cheese sequence. It might even culminate with the shocking murder of Prince Jaehaerys. Catch the premiere of the second season on HBO, while the first season is now available for streaming on Max.
