Prime Video’s favorite show is back and it is bigger, better, and badder than ever. The Boys is currently in its fourth season with three episodes out so far and the reviews are in favor of the show. Throughout the seasons, the cast has spent plenty of time with each other but the question is, do they really know each other as well as one would hope?

In a recent interview where the cast answered questions about each other, Karen Fukuhara was in for a surprise. While she decided to ask her co-stars a question about her time as a basketball player, little did she know that she was going to be embarrassed at the hands of Jessie T. Usher’s candor.

A bunch of The Boys’ cast members joined Vanity Fair recently where they quizzed each other on some personal facts. From Antony Starr (Homelander) to Erin Moriarty (Starlight), everyone took a turn to present their co-stars with difficult questions that put their friendship to the ultimate test.

Soon it was Karen Fukuhara’s turn, who plays the role of Kimiko Miyashiro/The Female in the series. The actress asked, “How many years did I play Basketball?”

There were a series of mixed answers that came from the group with them guessing eight years, four years, six months, and even one month. After seeing her colleagues struggle for a bit, Fukuhara did them a little favor by giving a small hint.

She added, “Hint: I was the worst player on the team.” Despite the hint, no one was able to correctly answer her question and she finally revealed the truth stating, “It was eleven years and counting. No, just kidding. Eleven. Yeah, I played for like a decade and a bit. I was so bad.”

Clearly, ‘Practice Makes Perfect’ did not apply to Fukuhara’s Basketball days, and Jessie T. Usher (A-Train), did not waste a minute before applying salt to her wounds. He stated,

What?! How did you not get better? … Anything for eleven years, eventually you’ll be decent.

Of course, this was in good fun and Fukuhara didn’t take the comment to heart and replied, “That’s what I wanna know” as the rest of the cast burst into laughter.

The interviewer pointed out the significant role the women have in the show despite it being called The Boys and asked about their characters carrying the torch in the current season as well as the empowerment it brings them.

To this, Fukuhara replied,

Women in the world are multi-dimensional. It’s real life and it’s reflected on our show. I love that we don’t shy away from playing these characters. Giving them dimension, giving them colour, giving them a little more than being just good or bad.

Talking about the shocks and surprises that keep coming along the way in the series, the Suicide Squad actress stated,

I feel like throughout the seasons I made assumptions about certain characters and then there are a few in season four that I was just shocked by the actions that these characters take. I’m in shock because…the growth, the arc, and sometimes it’s not in a good way. It’s in the opposite direction…

…So it’s all in the writing…it’s always such a pleasant surprise when you get to that moment and you’re like, ‘Well, how did we get here?’ And then you think back and you’re like, oh, they planted those seeds all throughout.

All her words are right on the mark. The Boys has successfully managed to keep the fans’ undivided attention for all these years thanks to its characters, storylines, and the shocking (sometimes horrifying) twists and turns that keep coming. We cannot wait to see what happens next!
