Gen V Star Took 'The Boys' Actor Jack Quaid's Help to Solve 1 Major Problem After Becoming the Poster Child Drenched in Guts and Blood

The Boys Universe is a bloody mess, quite literally a violent satire drenched in blood and guts, almost everyone is on a killing spree. The Prime Video series starring Jack Quaid and co. has attracted a huge fanbase and the franchise is expanding with the animated anthology offshoot series The Boys Presents: Diabolical and upcoming series Gen V.

Gen V will revolve around the Vought International-owned Godolkin University students dedicated to training and controlling the minds of young supes setting the goal to push them for the Seven. Of course, Gen V is an extension of Prime Videos’ top series but it will be more focused on the journey of the young supes.

A Blood Soaking Problem for Gen V Star Lizze Broadway

Inherently, Gen V would follow the blood-wrenching violence of The Boys. The upcoming series will reveal the journey of the young supes in quite excruciating detail while being trained for the limelight and rulebook of Vought International. Still, there will not be any less mess than its parent series. The mess, however, was not restrained to the screen but one of the lead Gen V stars, Lizze Broadway who plays  Emma Shaw in the upcoming series ended up asking for help from The Boys star Jack Quaid. Obviously, he had several instances where his character  Hughie Campbell was soaked in blood. Broadway asked Quaid for tips and tricks on how to remove the fake blood after filming a bloody scene.

“I was like, ‘How do you get the blood off?’ He’s like, ‘Shaving cream and Dawn soap will be your best friend,'” Broadway told Entertainment Weekly.

Of course, as Broadway observed, “Shaving cream is the only thing that gets [fake blood] off!” Quaid earlier met with the core cast of Gen V during principal photography of the series and even treated them to brunch during a break in filming. “I got to know a bunch of them. They’re awesome. They’re so talented,” Quaid said of the Gen V casts. Although it is not clear if Quaid will appear on the show, some of The Boys actors including Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett, Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman, P. J. Byrne as Adam Bourke, Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Chace Crawford as The Deep are set to reprise their roles.

A spin-off show was always on the mind of The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke, at least after the premiere of season 1 of the series in 2019. After the success of three seasons of the parent series, the room for the new series of the franchise expanded. “I actually think they’ve done it so well that they have earned the right to expand and explore,” Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios said (via EW.)

“So, the same irreverence that The Boys has is in Gen V. And at the same time that we are definitely growing the universe, we’re also unafraid to make fun of ourselves in doing it,” she added.

Despite being an extension of The Boys, Gen V differs from its predecessor series on a few grounds. “In The Boys, we’re seeing a bunch of superheroes where they wound up,” Gen V star Asa Germann said. “But in this show, we aren’t only following the supes in terms of their journey about becoming supes,” she added.

“We’re following their journey in terms of how they’re becoming people and how they’re growing up and evolving and learning and creating relationships and destroying relationships — and really, at a core, figuring out what it means to be a hero. The thing that I love so much about our show is that we don’t actually really answer that question.”

The new series has a lot to bring to the plate. Based on the popularity of The Boys, it is safe to assume that the Amazon series will top the ranks like its predecessor.

Gen V is scheduled for the world premiere on Prime Video on Sept. 29, 2023.
