How to change character appearance within Skull and Bones is a fairly simple process.

If you have the premium edition of Skull and Bones, you will gain access to the game on February 13th, whereas those with the standard edition will gain access on February 16th. Do not fret, when starting out your journey and designing your character, as this isn’t the only time you can do so.

Once you boot up the game, you will enter a short tutorial section that allows you to take control of an incredibly strong ship to get a taste of power before it is quickly swept out from beneath you.

After you complete this tutorial, you will be presented with the option to create your pirate captain. Since this is just the basic character creation, you will only be able to choose from a rather small number of options.

What makes this character creation so unique is the fact that your player character was originally just a nobody on a ship that was attacked. Once you wake up on a plank of drifting wood, you will look into a puddle and be able to design your character in many different ways, from your face, hair, body shape, scars, and so much more.

Even though there will only be a few different options at launch, these will expand with further updates sometime in the future, as seasonal content will be brought into the game. But what if you aren’t happy with the character you made at the start of the game?

There is some good news in this regard, as each pirate den within the game provides the player with the option to alter their character design. This location is known as a vanity atelier, which can be accessed through an NPC in each den. It provides the player with the option to ‘Change Physical Appearance‘.

Changing How You Look Isn’t the Only Thing the Vanity Atelier Is Good For

Once you have finished creating your pirate and have progressed to your first den, you will likely begin to look at your character with a slight bit of disgust. They will appear rather ragged and dirty as you begin your adventure in horrid clothes, if any at all.

Many players, will probably decide their first stop will be this vanity atelier to have a look at the wares. This is where you can purchase some clothing items that will make you look and feel like a pirate.

Even if you don’t head to the vanity atelier straight away, you can visit them later on in your adventure as you will earn different clothing items, color palettes, and even tattoos that you can apply to your character, creating a whole new look.

As stated above, Skull and Bones doesn’t have a large majority of clothing and character design options that you can select from, but as you progress through the game, you will begin to uncover all sorts of customization options. This will be especially true in future seasons which will introduce unique cosmetic items.
