Development hell is not a tag that you want to be related to, but Skull and Bones has been there, and after many years, Ubisoft will finally launch this game. Ubisoft Singapore made this, promising engaging pirate battles like you have never seen before.
With all kinds of weapons and equipment, you can defend or attack other ships and recover all the loot that you want. But you don’t just have to fight pirates and loot ships; you also have to face the most deadly sea creatures, like the very dangerous Kraken. Here are all the details and the release date of Skull and Bones.
Skull and Bones aims to be a real pirate experience
After more than seven years in the making, being announced back in 2017, and with several delays, Ubisoft will finally launch Skull and Bones. This game was born as an expansion for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and the pirate battle system that was introduced in that title.
Ubisoft Singapore was the selected subsidiary of the creators of Rayman to make this a standalone experience that has nothing to do with the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Skull and Bones will be out in a couple of days, and here are all the details.
Skull and Bones aims to provide a realistic experience on a pirate ship full of weaponry and equipment to defend your stash and loot other ships. There are various types of ships, Navigation, Firepower, and Cargo.
Every kind has its own perks and advantages. In your boat, you can control the navigation, your crew, and the combat. You have to feed your crew and keep them happy so they don’t reveal themselves against you and take your boat. If your ship sinks, you can respawn in the closest pirate den and go back for your lost loot, but you will encounter enemies.
Crossplay, release date, and more
As for the multiplayer side of Skull and Bones, you can play with three other friends in PvE mode or PvEvP to make things much more interesting. Ship-to-ship combat is the main protagonist of this game, and Ubisoft Singapore makes sure of that. Every player could have his own lair and personalize it for a new adventure. You and your pirate gang will have to endure every battle, defending the ship at all costs.
This long-delay pirate adventure will be available on February 16 on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC in the Epic Game Store. Skull and Bones will have crossplay from launch across all platforms. The game director, Ryan Barnard, confirmed this. So you can start looting and battling next week. The Open Beta for the game ends tomorrow.
