The Tour Sinnoh event introduces three individual timed research quests that are called Photo Safaris. These quests give you the opportunity to capture the legendary creatures. You can participate regardless of whether you previously picked Dialga or Palkia.

The quests are available until 6 PM on Sunday, 25th February. Each quest requires you to take an in-game snapshot of one of the legendary monsters. They will be roaming in the wild during the event, requiring trainers to explore and search for them. Using incense can increase your chances of finding one and fast-track the process a bit.

Once you encounter a lake guardian in the wild, there’s an important step you need to take. Make sure to take a snapshot before attempting to catch the legendaries, so that the quest is finished even if it flees. The Photo Safari tasks are located under the ‘Events’ tab in your menu.

After completing each Photo Safari quest, you’ll be rewarded with an encounter with the corresponding legendary, and they won’t flee during this encounter. For this reason, it’s wiser to focus on capturing the snapshot first and get a guaranteed catch afterward.

How to Capture Tour Sinnoh Legendaries

You can take the easy route or test your luck through another path

There are various approaches to capturing the legendaries during the Tour Sinnoh event.

The easiest method, as explained above, involves completing their respective Photo Safari tasks, leading to an encounter where they can’t escape. Great or Ultra Balls are recommended for this method to increase the chances of a successful capture. Make sure to carry enough resources.

The other option is less ideal and more challenging, which is directly attempting to catch the legendaries in the wild. If you’re planning on going this route, do note that they can flee after a failed attempt. We strongly recommend using Ultra Balls and a Golden Razz Berry to boost success rates.
