Bob Odenkirk is a master of all trades. After playing Saul Goodman in series like Breaking Bad and Better Caul Saul, the comedian decided to take an unexpected direction with his role as Hutch Mansell in Nobody. But again, the actor didn’t need to look like Keannu Reeves’ John Wick to prove his worth as an action hero.

Bob Odenkirk Didn’t Feel The Need To Forge Abs

During an interview with The Guardian, Bob Odenkirk, best known for his role as Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and its hit flick, Better Call Saul, revealed that he didn’t need to forge abs to look like an action hero. During the filming of Nobody (2021), the actor flat-out refused to make abs as he wanted to do his “own fighting”.

Odenkirk stated: “I said: ‘I want to do my own fighting, but I also want to look like a dad.” In Ilya Naishuller-directed action thriller, the Lucky Hank actor kicked a*ses being a “run-of-the-mill family man, which made his performance even more compelling.

In the $59 million movie, Odenkirk’s role as a former assassin seeking revenge on the Russian mob in Nobody was endlessly compared to Keanu Reeves‘ John Wick. Well, the former turned out to be a supremely entertaining action flick!

Bob Odenkirk Came On Mission With Nobody!

Bob Odenkirk previously revealed in an interview with GQ, “I wanted to make it right, and I wanted it to maybe destroy my career,” referencing his 2021 film Nobody. While this is an unusual goal for an actor who built his career as a comedic writer and performing, he declared his worth as much more with his role as Saul Goodman.

But again, with a movie like Nobody, Odenkirk took the “biggest and riskiest” swing. His role as a middle-aged family man, whose life turns around as a couple of robbers break into his home, takes him back to the time when he was a lethal killer.

He admitted that preparing for this role was like fighting his demons. It is only fair to say that Nobody being the skin-or-swim opportunity for Odenkrik, the actor didn’t miss the chance!
