Not Endeavor, My Hero Academia Creator Thought Fans Will Despise Another Ani-Hero in the Series

My Hero Academia is one of the best new-gen anime, and according to many, it is one of the best series ever made. The series has many good characters; some characters have managed to become very popular and one of them is Katsuki Bakugo, one of the beloved characters. However, according to the author of the series Kōhei Horikoshi, Bakugo was supposed to be one of the characters that the fans were supposed to hate.

It might come as a surprise but Kohei-Horikoshi is a very big Marvel fan and usually took some inspiration for his characters from the franchise. He is also a very big Spiderman fan he has revealed. He visited the Comic-Con which took place this year and answered questions regarding the series.

In a surprising comment, he mentioned that the idea behind Bakugo was to make him a character that was not loved by the community but to his surprise, he ended up becoming more popular than some main characters.

What did the creator of My Hero Academia, Kohei Horikoshi say in his interview with ANN?

During the Comic-Con event, Kohei Horikoshi sat down and answered numerous questions regarding the series and elaborated ideas about several characters.

ANN asked him “Is there a character that you’ve created that fans reacted to in a way you didn’t expect?” to which he said :

Bakugo has been a bit of a surprise. I assumed everyone would hate him, but it’s been the opposite. In the character questionnaires we do, Bakugo comes in #1 most popular.

The interviewer proceeds to ask him “Why do you think that is?” and his response to the question was:

Bakugo has always been the bully, and he ends up going to school with Deku. So I had them in a big fight pretty early on, but through that fight you were able to see Bakugo’s humanity, that he was just a short-tempered kid.

What was the vision behind Katsuki Bakugo from Kohei-Horikoshi

Kohei Horikoshi was trying to create a character like Endeavour who would be despised by the viewers. What ended up happening was him creating a fan-favorite character.

Due to Bakugou’s short temper and personality that clashes with everyone he was bound to get hated but when fans saw his true side which was a kid who just wanted to become the best.

Fans ended up loving him more than some of the characters in the series, In several polls Bakugo has managed to claim the 1st spot which proves the amount of love he gets from the fans.

Bakugo has ended up becoming a very crucial part of the story and has seen tremendous character development since the beginning of the series.
