Leonardo DiCaprio is ready with another one of his masterpieces by collaborating with his longtime friend and director Martin Scorsese. With the iconic duo joining hands once again, a new Scorsese movie is on the horizon, and this time, it’s guns-blazing.
Killers of the Flower Moon is an upcoming Western drama film directed by Martin Scorsese and stars Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role. Joining DiCaprio for the ride is Lily Gladstone who dissed the iconic Western drama series Yellowstone in her interview for being “delusional”!
Leonardo DiCaprio’s Co-Star Lily Gladstone Is Unhappy
Lily Gladstone will portray the role of Mollie Burkhart in the upcoming 2023 movie and will star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio’s Ernest Burkhart. Although she is quite happy to be working alongside DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, Gladstone did not hold back from dissing one other Western drama series that did not give her a chance.
Yellowstone is a 2018 series that has kind of a similar background to what Killers of the Flower Moon entails. Being a Western drama much like the Martin Scorsese film, Lily Gladstone had auditioned several times for a role in the series. In an interview with Vulture, the actress gave her honest verdict about the 2018 series.
With Taylor Sheridan being the creator of the series, Lily Gladstone revealed that she had auditioned for a role in Yellowstone but had been rejected. In her interview, the actress said that the 2018 series’ depiction of Western and Native America was “Delusional! Deplorable!”. The actress further clarified that she meant no offense to the real Native American actors cast in the project.
Martin Scorsese Knew Lily Gladstone Was The One
Well, Leonardo DiCaprio was quite shocked when Martin Scorsese announced that he was only going to cast Lily Gladstone in the role. As per IMDB, Lily Gladstone was just planning for a career change during the high time of COVID-19 when Martin Scorsese emailed her to join a Zoom meeting with him. DiCaprio revealed that Scorsese knew in an instant that she was the one,
“There was no reading. Marty just instinctively knew Lily was the one. There was a truthfulness in [her] eyes that he saw even over a computer screen. I’ve never known [Scorsese] meet somebody and then immediately afterwards have this gravitational pull and instinct to say, ‘Let’s not wait another minute.'”
Well, Taylor Sheridan’s series received a rating of 8.7/10 on IMDB and 84% on Rotten Tomatoes while Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon is yet to release theatrically. In early screenings, the movie has managed quite impressively with several acclaim and praise and has an IMDB rating of 9.3/10 and 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
