The sun may be setting on the Marvel empire but the tired old franchise might yet have a few tricks up its sleeves. Refusing to go down without a bang, the MCU has started to collect the debt from its past (and a few from the future). As a result, it’s finally time for Midnight Sons, the highly anticipated project to come to fruition after years of unfulfilled expectations and a grueling cinematic experience.

To Marvel’s credit, what the superhero vehicle lacks in quality, it more than makes up for in timing. After scarring people’s memories with movies like Thor: Love and Thunder and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the MCU seems to have shifted its gears back to neutral instead of driving in reverse. With Midnight Sons, the franchise can begin to heal its past mistakes and start anew.

A Midnight Sons Film Finally Makes Its Way Into the MCU

For most of Marvel’s post-Endgame projects, the trick was not to level up to the god-tier expectation left behind by the phenomenon of the decade but to take a breath and touch some grass. The films, Disney+ shows, and Special Presentations that plagued Phases Four and Five were numerous enough to drive the once-loyal fanbase to the brink of content-driven madness – a condition that was aptly named Superhero fatigue to deviate blame from the larger Hollywood narrative.

However, the fans will soon be repaid in kind for surviving the last 4 years despite the drivel that Marvel pandered in the name of continuity. The few good projects from Phase Four, such as Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (more specifically, its post-credits scene), will come together in a new Midnight Sons project.

Since it’s still in the early stages of development, Midnight Sons is slated to premiere as a feature film – which is understandable considering its ensemble A-list cast. However, keeping with Marvel’s recent trend, the project could be released as a limited series or another format due to the vast scale of its plot. The film is set to reunite Phase Four heroes such as Oscar Isaac‘s Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, Charlize Theron‘s Clea, and Scarlet Scarab, among others.

Marvel Announces a Big Score for Its Midnight Sons Project

Midnight Sons has been a long time coming for the demography of Marvel audiences who are familiar with the comics. The first three phases of the MCU largely focused on the mainstream lore of the comic universe, with Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, the Hulk, and Hawkeye reigning supreme as the Earth’s Mightiest Avengers. Fighting against aliens, gods, and Titans had been the primary concern for the franchise’s first endgame.

Phase Four launched a more supernatural arc into the MCU with characters like Moon Knight, Elsa Bloodstone, Werewolf by Night, Agatha Harkness, Blade, and Black Knight being introduced into the fray. It was only time that a proposed supernatural team-up event was announced to bring together the edgier, darker version of Marvel’s heroes in a Midnight Sons project.

In a recent exclusive announcement by Nexus Point News, an insider source has revealed that the project has finally secured a scriptwriter to helm the story. Michael Green, the esteemed writer of films such as Hugh Jackman’s tear-jerking swan song Logan, Mahershala Ali‘s Blade, and co-writer of Denis Villeneuve-directed masterpiece, Blade Runner 2049, has boarded the MCU vehicle.

With a résumé such as his, Green is one of the highlights of the Midnight Sons project as all hopes ride on him after Marvel’s seemingly never-ending creative drought. If history serves right, he may save the face of the MCU with this one feature film that will bring the likes of Ghost Rider, Man-Thing, Constantine, and the Nightstalkers into the lineup.
