George and Amal Clooney first met in 2013 in the American actor’s home. He was hosting a dinner party at his house at Lake Como. One of his guests brought a mutual friend. That friend was none other than Amal Alamuddin.
Flings began to fly even after their first meeting. Clooney’s agent famously predicted after the first meet that the two would walk the aisle sometime down the line. And he couldn’t have been more spot on. George Clooney had no idea at the beginning, thinking they were just friends. But both of them soon realized they were more than that.

The duo would officially start dating in October that year. A trip to Mexico and Africa strengthened their bond further. What began as a friendship would soon blossom into a romance for the ages, as they got engaged in 2014. They got married soon after.
The Ticket to Paradise star and the human rights lawyer celebrated their 9th anniversary on 27 September 2023. The couple celebrated the momentous event privately. But there was something that irked George.
George Clooney couldn’t be more ‘pleased’ with his anniversary present
In an interview with Extra, the 62-year-old got candid with the media, letting them in on what gift his wife gave him. He wasn’t excited by it though. He said (via Access Hollywood)
“We stayed in because we had to do this show tonight. But my wife got me a robe.”
Spoiler alert: He didn’t look very excited about the gift. Amal was quick to jump in and clarify that it was a “pajama anniversary.” But George wasn’t done. He continued,
“She gave me a robe that said ‘hubby’ on it. It’s almost too much. And it’s the end of everything when you’re wearing a silk robe with ‘hubby’ on it”
The reporter joked that she wanted to see pictures. But that would be the last thing he would allow to happen. The picture was already stuck in his mind. He couldn’t bear to have it remain there for eternity.
