“That’s because of my naivete as a kid. I was 19 when I got cast. I was so caught up in getting the role that I never took any time to think about what it must have been like for him. If I’d made my second movie, and it didn’t necessarily deliver in the way it should have done, and they recast me, I would really struggle to bounce back. Andrew bounced back in the most unbelievable way. I just wish I’d called him and just said, ‘You know I can’t turn down this opportunity.’”

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Holland shared that he felt distraught over the fact that Andrew Garfield was recast for the Spider-Man role. During the time of his cast, Holland was still a teenager and was quite happy and heavily immersed in his role, but now he thinks that it was improper for him to completely nudge Garfield’s take on the situation. He should have talked things over with him, but things just did not go that way. Nevertheless, Andrew Garfield got to put on the suit again, as the movie earned record earnings at the box office, almost crossing the two billion mark.
