While love scenes might seem full of romance and intimacy on screen, it is quite the opposite for the actors. It’s never easy filming an intimate scene with a co-star and things tend to get extra uncomfortable if there is an obvious age gap between the two actors. Something similar happened to Emily Blunt and Tom Hanks.

Emily Blunt and Tom Hanks starred in the 2007 comedy-drama, Charlie Wilson’s War. The film has an 82% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the consensus applauds it for informing and entertaining the audience at the same time. While both Tom Hanks and Emily Blunt were exceptional as always in the film, there was one scene that made the actress truly uncomfortable, and she suspects her co-star felt the same way.

In an interview with GQ, Emily Blunt got candid about what it was like to crawl over naked toward Tom Hanks in Charlie Wilson’s War. She stated that having your br*asts out for a scene never gets less embarrassing, especially when there are a hundred things to worry about. However, she did clarify that it was absolutely surreal filming an intimate scene with Hanks.

“Tom Hanks? Hot! It was surreal! And embarrassing, always, because it’s just you with your tits hanging out, and you have to hope that the lighting’s nice. There are some people who feel OK and confident with prancing around in their underwear. I wouldn’t say I was one of those people. So you just become someone who’s good at it. But he is such a gentleman.”

Even though Blunt described the moment as “Surreal” she let the world know through The Telegraph that she is over undressing for her roles. She stated that she is simply not 22 anymore and as long as nudity is not vital to the film, which she believes isn’t most of the time, she will not be giving the scenes a green light.

Continuing her rant about the intimate scene with Hanks, she stated that it could have been weird for the Forrest Gump actor, too, as he usually does not engage in these types of scenes. Of course, it didn’t help that Blunt could be the age of Hanks’ daughter and was even friends with his son, Colin Hanks. Just a little fun fact, there is a twenty-seven-year age gap between Hanks and Blunt.

“Maybe it was weird for him too…I could be his daughter. And I’m friends with his son. I did [The Great] Buck Howard with Colin. And also because Tom Hanks is not known for these kind of scenes.”

However, Blunt also went on record to say that Hanks did absolute justice to the role of Charlie Wilson, who was shown to be a womanizer. She also praised the actor for being an absolute gentleman during the scene.

“Charlie Wilson was a massive player, he was really promiscuous. And s*xy! Tom was so really good at that. He’s really s*xy! I promise you. He just made it effortless to do those scenes. And he was very protective of me. And he’s a gent.”

Well, if there is one actor who deserves the ‘gentleman’ title in Hollywood, it is Hanks.
