But in recent history, it seems like the actress has only been working with filmmakers of the industry who are masters of their craft in the art of filmmaking and no one else.

Seeing her history and legacy in the business, it’s still a mystery why the actress hasn’t done a project that modern-day auteurs of the film industry helmed. While her husband, Jesse Plemons, thinks that she just might not be comfortable with them, Dunst claims that she is just too picky with whom she wants to work with, which she also believes she deserves.

Working with a true film industry auteur is a dream of many actors and actresses in Hollywood, especially since they have so much influence and control over their projects that they can easily bring their vision for a story to life through production.

But it seems like Oscar-nominated actress Kirsten Dunst doesn’t share the same sentiments as many of her peers do when it comes to getting on board auteur-run projects.

In a recent interview profile with GQ, the Spider-Man star’s particular trend to not work with modern-day auteuristic filmmakers like Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino was commented on by her husband, Jesse Plemons, who said that she just doesn’t seem to be too keen on that opportunity.

But disagreeing with the Breaking Bad star’s reasoning, she said that she wants to do films that she has a personal interest in and that she’s really picky about her roles at this stage of her career and nothing more. She said:

“It’s not hard to get roles. I just don’t want to work on things because most things aren’t very good. Let’s just call a spade a spade here. I’ve been working since I was three. Most people who have worked this long are retired. I deserve to be picky.”

Thus, following her instinct and wish, she has only made films with three filmmakers in the last seven years of her career, among which her latest happens to be with Alex Garland in his film titled Civil War.

After a break from the film industry for three years, Dunst has returned to the big screen with Alex Garland’s latest sci-fi/action film Civil War, which was extremely well received, although also with some controversies, by critics and audiences alike at the SXSW Film Festival.

The film follows the tale of a team of military journalists who are on their way to The White House, traversing through a rapidly unraveling and hostile nation once known as the United States of America. On their journey, they are faced with several traumatizing challenges and adversities as the once great nation is caught amidst the rapidly escalating Second American Civil War.
