I saw the trailer for civil war in theaters and was like this is dumb, but then Jesse Plemons asked the journalists “what kind of American are you?” at gun point and I knew I will be there no matter what when it releases

Civil War is polarising critics but there’s no way I’m not seeing it when Jesse Plemons is channelling Elton John & Eminem at the same time pic.twitter.com/46LehJSddM

Civil War is a tense and haunting journey into the heart of darkness. At the same time it’s an extremely important celebration of journalism and the extent people are willing to cover horrifying events. Dunst and Spaney deliver. The Jesse Plemons sequence is unforgettable. 4/5 pic.twitter.com/UKgY6ZKrAZ

While there are a few netizens who are not as enthusiastic about how the film will unfold, there is no denying the fact that Jesse Plemons is a high impact actor who has the ability to make an impression with minimal screen time.
Why Is Alex Garland Stepping Down From Directorial Duties After Civil War?
Alex Garland’s Civil War is one of the biggest films to come out this year and is already breaking records before its release. The director though, revealed that he wanted to hang up his boots and take a break after this project to go back to writing scripts. Elaborating on the reasons behind this decision, The Beach writer, in an interview with The Telegraph, revealed that many of his ideas and visions were not always relatable to audiences.
Garland quoted his film Men as an example of a movie that was critically acclaimed for its ambitious ideas, but failed to connect with certain sections of viewers for its abstract subject matter. He was prepared for his latest film Civil War to also receive similar reactions.
“Look, I’m not expecting everyone to like it. I know when I put something out there if it’s going to p**s a bunch of people off. The film I’m making now is also going to wind some people up. I can be a bit odd and my instincts aren’t very mainstream.”
Time will tell if Garland’s precautionary skepticism regarding Civil War will ring true based on the reactions of the audience. Judging by the pre-release hype though, the film is well on its way to box office glory.
Civil War releases in theaters on April 12th, 2024.
