Famke Janssen‘s Jean Grey had a complicated romantic relationship with Hugh Jackman‘s Logan in the X-Men films. She made the ultimate sacrifice in the second X-Men film but returned in her Phoenix avatar in The Last Stand. Wolverine had to tragically kill Jean Grey at the end of the third film to stop her from causing any more destruction.

He was still mourning her in the film, The Wolverine, where Janssen appeared in flashback scenes. She also appeared one final time in the film, X-Men: Days of Future Past, in which James Marsden also returned to his role as Cyclops. During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Janssen was asked whether she would appear opposite Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Like most other actors, Janssen’s response was a plausible deniability. She also added that she had cheated death multiple times in her movies and it may also happen with her character’s MCU future. She shared with ComicBook.com:

“I don’t know. I mean, I didn’t expect to come back after dying as Jean Grey. I came back as the Phoenix [in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand], and I came back in flashback scenes in The Wolverine, and then in Days of Future Past. [These roles] were all surprises that I never anticipated.”

However, about her appearance in the upcoming MCU film, Janssen shared, “I don’t know. I doubt it, but you never know.” Janssen was promoting her new film, Boy Kills World, also starring Bill Skarsgård, Jessica Rothe, and Michelle Dockery.

Forget Jean Grey, but Scott Summers may make an appearance in the fun ride of Deadpool & Wolverine. James Marsden accidentally revealed a detail that hinted at his return as Cyclops. Speaking to The Discourse Podcast, Marsden shared that his upcoming film Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was filmed at Pinewood Studios, where Deadpool & Wolverine filming also took place. He shared with The Discourse Podcast:

“We just wrapped actually. We were near the Deadpool stages up there in Pinewood actually. Yeah, this is a little bit of a Pandora’s box.”

Karan Soni, who played Dopinder in the first two films, also hinted at the possible X-Men reunion in this film. He shared in an interview with Variety that the film has packed lots of surprises for the audience. He shared, “This new MCU version is ultra-secretive. There are a lot of surprises. Let’s just say a lot of people traveled to London.” Earlier, leaked set photos also revealed characters like X-Men villains Sabretooth and Toad appearing in the film.

Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.
