Marvel Studios is placing a lot of hope on the shoulders of the Echo series to open the year with a boom. The show will primarily take us through the story of Maya Lopez, who was introduced in the 2021 TV show Hawkeye.
Apart from focusing on the former commander of the Tracksuit Mafia, the show will also have Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin. Cox is a highly respected actor, and he proved that with just one question while filming for Echo.

Charlie Cox Was the Only Person Who Questioned The Communication Bridge Between Daredevil and Echo
It’s a well-known fact that Daredevil is blind and on the other hand, Echo is deaf. On top of that, Maya is unable to speak in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While most of the production team of the TV series didn’t contemplate much about it, Charlie Cox asked this burning question, as revealed by director Sydney Freeland during an interview with CinemaBlend.
He said, ‘It’s just been sort of eating at me. Like, if Daredevil is blind and Maya’s deaf, how are they gonna communicate?’ And, we were all just sort of dumbfounded at that moment, cause that wasn’t something we, and mind you we’re already months in the prep on this thing, and it had never occurred to any of us. I’m very able-bodied and I’m not deaf. I’m not blind.
It’s truly surprising that no one on the production team pondered upon this question while working on the new Marvel series. Thankfully, Cox has been working as the iconic comic book character for almost a decade now.
Evidently, he knows the character well, and it’s no surprise that it was none other than Charlie Cox who wondered how he and Echo would communicate during fight sequences in the series.
At the end of the day, Freelander accepted this flaw due to her being able-bodied. Thus, she didn’t think from this perspective. As far as the answer to the question is considered, in the comics, Maya could talk and hence communicate with Daredevil.
Sydney Freeland Praised Charlie Cox’s Thoughtful Approach
Charlie Cox portrayed Daredevil for 39 episodes before his series was canceled by Netflix in 2018. Although Cox no longer had his standalone TV series, the character made cameos in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Now, Cox is all set to reprise his role as The Man Without Fear in the 2024 series, Echo. On that note, director Sydney Freeland praised the actor for his thoughtful approach toward acting and whatnot in the same interview with CinemaBlend.
I didn’t think about this and so it really got us thinking and it sparked so many conversations just from that one simple question. But that’s an example of how Charlie’s approach is just extremely thoughtful.
Freeland will be thanking her stars for having Charlie Cox present on the set of Echo to provide his razor-sharp analysis to the team.
At the end of the day, most fans will tune into the show to watch Cox’s Matt Murdock back in action ahead of the Daredevil: Born Again series, which is expected to be released sometime in 2025.
Until then, the audience can enjoy watching Marvel’s Echo series exclusively on Disney Plus. After all, the opening episode of the series was released on the platform on January 09, 2023.
