Mark Wahlberg’s Brothers Got Him Drunk At The Age Of 10
Mark Wahlberg’s struggle with addiction started at an extremely early age. The actor was only ten years old when he first got acquainted with drugs and alcohol. His brothers thought it was amusing to see their little brother frolicking around when Wahlberg would get high so they encouraged it even more.
“My older brothers taught me how to get high when I was 10, and gave me a couple of beers. They thought it was funny to see me stumbling around. A lot of my family is now in A.A. But I don’t blame anybody,” he stated. “I took it upon myself to take it to the next level. I was getting f***d up every day and committing violent acts.”
Although the actor does not blame anybody, he acknowledged how his childhood was not normal, being filled with delinquency and addiction. Wahlberg even ended up blinding a man when he was a mere teenager. Not only was the actor associated with stealing, but he was also allegedly selling marijuana while being addicted to cocaine.
Mark Wahlberg’s Music Career Got Him Out Of The Stump
Being confined to his own small world, Mark Wahlberg never understood that there was more to life than what he was used to seeing. Although his music career is not something the actor is proud of, it is what got him out of the grave he was digging for himself. Before he stepped into the world of hip-hop, Wahlberg believed all of his habits were normal and that everyone did the same things he did.
I thought everyone knew the same things, spoke the same language, stole from each other. Once I realized I was welcome in the rest of the world, then I just took it on myself to try to educate myself.”
When he first encountered the world outside of Dorchester, he was shocked. He instantly knew that things had to change and that he had to change as well. The world beyond his home was big and open, it had a lot of different things he had never experienced. He learned about the wrongs and the rights; slowly creating a path for himself.
