Recounting his first experience meeting Taylor Swift, Ed Kelce recalled it was at their home prior to a Chiefs’ game at Arrowhead Stadium. Heading in with her security guard in a casual gathering at Travis Kelce’s house, even though Ed Kelce was aware of her status, he failed to recall her name, which made him feel like an idiot. Fortunately, his girlfriend was there to save the day.
During his appearance as a guest on Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan, he told the radio:
“When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to the game, everyone meets at his house, although he’s not there … Taylor walks in with a security guy, and I look at her, and I say [to my girlfriend] Maureen, ‘Oh my god, I know this kid, but I don’t know what her name is.’ Jeez, you know, like a real idiot. And [my girlfriend] says, ‘You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.’”

Further reflecting on their son dating one of the biggest names in the realm of music, Ed Kelce revealed that there has been a notable shift in how people engage with him and his partner. Kelce stressed that being recognized by strangers has increased frequently since Taylor Swift entered Travis Kelce’s life, as he revealed that even more popular people recognize them now.
“More people recognize us since he started dating Taylor, though,” he said. “I’ll be [in] the grocery store, somebody will smile and say, ‘Hey!’ Come over and say [hi], and I have no idea who they are. That has certainly picked up and become more frequent by a long shot than the before Taylor days.”
