Cillian Murphy, with his performance in Oppenheimer, convinced the whole wide world that he is an impeccable actor. Now an Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA-winning actor, Murphy seems to be pretty much unaware of his own talents and gifts or at least fails to acknowledge them. Even his co-star on Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt stated how Murphy won’t acknowledge that he is a good actor.

Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy starred in the Oscar-winning flick Oppenheimer and ever since Blunt has been in awe of her co-star. The actress has often hailed him as one of the finest actors she has ever worked with and how he is magical to watch (see People).

And in a new interview with 60 Minutes, the actress again sang his praise and revealed how it is probably hard for him to acknowledge and accept his gifts. When the interviewer asked her if Murphy knew how good of an actor he really is, Blunt stated,

“No. I don’t think so. I don’t know if any of the great actors know that they’re or say that about themselves. I feel he’s always in search… He’s looking at what else can I do… I think it would be so painful for him to acknowledge how good he is. I don’t see that ever happening. I think he loves what he does so much but I just can’t ever picture him going ‘I was good in that’.”

Despite all his success and recognition, Cillian Murphy remains grounded and dedicated to his craft. Always looking to push himself, as Blunt states, it is his remarkable dedication and honest efforts that certainly make him a great actor.

At least for the last couple of months, and more to come, Cillian Murphy is among the handful of celebrities who will be discussed and talked about the most. After winning his first Academy Award for his role as Oppenheimer, the actor has been pretty much the talk of the town.

Yet, Emily Blunt feels her co-star is the worst celebrity, as she revealed during her 60 Minutes interview.

“He’s the best actor in the world and he’s the worst celebrity in the world.”

And it is a fact that even Murphy would somewhat confirm in the many interviews he has given. While talking to GQ, the actor stated he would much rather prefer to talk about his craft than himself. In another interview with Esquire, back in 2022, he remarked,

“I’ve always been interested in just the work. I’m sh*t at being anything else other than an actor. I’m sh*t at being a personality. I’m sh*t at red carpets. I’m sh*t at being on talk shows. I*m shit at, like, all the other stuff that comes with it.”

Cillian Murphy’s talent as an actor is undeniable and while he might not acknowledge his own gifts and talents, his co-stars, and fans alike, see him as one of the best actors in the industry.
