She-Hulk: Attorney at Law fans may get disappointed with a recent update from its star, Tatiana Maslany. The actress revealed a shocking yet straightforward answer to the possibility of a second season, although this is not yet confirmed by the studio.
The show received mixed reactions from fans and critics, and the online trolling only made things worse. While the series addressed a lot of important societal issues, it was not enough to keep the hype for a sequel.
Tatiana Maslany Crushes Remaining Hope For Possible She-Hulk Season 2
During a Twitch stream, She-Hulk actress Tatiana Maslany admitted that a second season seems unlikely now. When asked if there will be a sequel to the Disney+ series, she said via Codenames LIVE! – The New Class:
“I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘No thanks.’ ”
Maslany sounded very confident with her response, and she seemed to have an awareness of the reception of fans to the show, but still, the official announcement must come from Marvel Studios.
In another interview with Extra, the actress hinted that the Kevin Feige-inspired robot in the She-Hulk finale suggested that fans should not keep their hopes up too high for a future installment.
“I mean, I don’t think so, yet. Kevin in the scene seems to be very dismissive of this idea, so, if we’re basing this off of the real Kevin, it doesn’t seem likely. But he was also, I think, just trying to get rid of Jen because she was asking too many questions… I don’t know. If I could be coy, and have some little secret, I would do that. But, I really don’t. I don’t know anything.”
Even though the odds of a future season seem disappointing at this point, Maslany confessed she is still willing to reprise her role.
She-Hulk Creator Was Not Ready For Series Follow-Up
Writer and producer Jessica Gao told Comic Book after the first season of the show wrapped up that she is not yet ready for another She-Hulk project. She likened the experience of creating the first season to a mother who had just given birth.
“I feel like this must be what it feels like for people who have had kids. This is how my favorite kids describe when they have their first baby, and then everybody’s like, are you going to have another kid? And they’re like, I literally just gave birth. I’m in labor in delivery. I just gave birth. I’m still on a hospital bed. Give me a second. And that’s how I feel right now.”
In some other franchises, there is already a plan for multiple seasons, or at least an eagerness to release a follow-up, especially when the crowd showed enthusiasm toward the series. However, it could also be that they are devising a new direction for the show.
If we are going to consider Tatiana Maslany’s comment, Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk can still appear in other places in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the confirmation of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil: Born Again, it is possible for the character to make a brief cameo there.
In the meantime, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is available to stream on Disney+.
