Glen Powell just explained that his new rom-com film with Sydney Sweeney resembles that of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar-winning movie The Revenant. As strange as that sounds, he managed to make an analogy between his chemistry with the actress and DiCaprio with the bear.
Anyone But You is a romantic screwball comedy that falls under the enemies-to-lovers trope. It is also considered a modern retelling of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.
Glen Powell Referred To The Revenant While Describing His Upcoming Rom-Com Film With Sydney Sweeney
Speaking with Sydney Sweeney on the official Instagram page of Anyone But You, actor Glen Powell shared his thoughts about the lead characters’ relationship in the film. He stated:
“The way Leo and that bear rough and tumble. It’s like are they gonna do it? Are they just scratching at each other? That’s my favorite part about the rom-com is the sense of play.”
The actress, meanwhile, chimed in and said it is “the greatest love story I’ve ever seen.” The comparison is already getting weird at this point, but Powell added:
“[You’re] waiting for someone to be mauled, and I feel like you and I have that same chemistry that Leo and that bear have in that movie.”
While Powell has a bizarre way of making associations with his movie and Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Revenant, Sweeney admitted in her interview with Entertainment Tonight that she had fun filming the project:
“It was such a blast! I mean, Australia was such a beautiful place to film, and the cast and crew were so much fun. I’ve never laughed so much on a set before. I had a really good time. I was living my best life. I loved it.”
Sweeney is famous for her roles in HBO’s Euphoria and The White Lotus. Powell notably appeared in Top Gun: Maverick and The Dark Knight Rises.
Sydney Sweeney Addressed Affair Rumors With Glen Powell
The recent promotions on Anyone But You got people speculating that something is going on between Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney. The actress revealed via Elle magazine that they perpetuated the rumors to excite fans for their movie:
“It’s a rom-com. That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker. We’re excited for the press tour, and I literally just left ADR with him. We talk all the time like, ‘That’s really funny.’ They want it. It’s fun to give it to ’em.”
Meanwhile, Powell seems to take the issue to heart and called the rumors unfair. He noted that these speculations are a reminder for him to focus on what’s essential in his life. He told Men’s Health:
“When all that stuff happened, you know, publicly, it felt disorienting and unfair. But what I’m realizing is that’s just a part of this gig now.”
Photos of Powell and Sweeney spending downtime together away from the movie set sparked the rumors after fans saw them taking a trip to the zoo, grabbing coffee together, and exploring Australia’s central district.
