Meanwhile, it is noteworthy to take a look at Maya Hawke’s character Robin, who with her quirky attitude soon became fans’ favorite.
Previously shown getting close to Vickie, a clarinetist, it is believed the duo might hit it off in the final season. However, Maya Hawke evidently expressed her dilemma and mixed feelings regarding her character Robin, and her love life.
Despite fans’ speculations of Vickie and Robin being a couple in the fifth and final season, Hawke rather wished for more screentime with Joe Keery’s character Steve Harrington.
Fans Suspect A Romantic Affair Between Robin And Vickie
Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things, set in the 1980s, became one of the most preferred pop culture shows of this day and age. Although the show revolved around Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Will (Noah Schnapp), there is no denying that fans had several other favorite characters.
While Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Steve (Joe Keery), and Max (Sadie Sink), remain among other hyped characters, fans were readily impressed with Robin (Maya Hawke), for her quirky and sarcastic nature. Having set their eyes on Robin, fans hoped for her to end up with Steve. However, Duffer Brothers had different plans as they ended up hinting at a romantic affair between Robin and Vickie (Amybeth McNulty).
While audiences wait for the fifth and final season, Maya Hawke opened up about her character and her love life. Last time seen making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches alongside Vickie, Hawke’s character Robin expressed her crush on the clarinetist to Steve (Joe Keery). Opening the door for Robin and Vickie to become girlfriends in the upcoming season, the Duffer Brothers created hype among fans.
Thus, fans are currently suspecting an upcoming lesbian relationship between two favored characters from Stranger Things.
Maya Hawke Has Mixed Feelings About Robin’s Love Life
Although fans enjoyed the inclusive relationship paradigm between the characters, Maya Hawke had completely different opinions. Discussing her character’s love life in Stranger Things, the actress mentioned having “mixed feelings” about love and friendship. During a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Hawke expressed her opinion on Robin having a girlfriend.
“I don’t know. I feel mixed about it…I feel that it’s both a great thing, but I also love characters where their love life is not the center of their existence.” Maya Hawke shared.
Further highlighting Robin’s friendship with Steve (Joe Keery), Hawke subtly hinted at her preference for having more screen time with Keery. Reflecting upon her personal friendship as well as Robin’s friendship with Joe Keery, the actress mentioned being in a dilemma over choosing love or friendship.
“That friendship with Steve is so special. And friendships have been carrying me through my life. I think they’re really important and they deserve their airtime.” Maya Hawke mentioned.
Stating how her friendship with Joe Keery has been the backbone of her appearance in Stranger Things, Maya Hawke evidently didn’t wish for much to change in the upcoming final season. She further expressed her desire for a “hero’s death” to simply make her exit from the show easy.
