Lady Gaga has been known around the world as a singer and an actress with some incredible movies to her name. Starring in iconic movies like A Star is Born and the 2021 flick House of Gucci, Gaga solidified herself as an actress and as a singer.
Starring in the role of Patrizia Reggiani in Ridley Scott’s 2021 film House of Gucci, Lady Gaga reveals that she felt no regrets about going over the top for her scenes in the 2021 film by holding her breath for so long and stating that she felt safe being in pain!
Lady Gaga Feels Safe In Pain
Starring in Ridley Scott’s film, Lady Gaga portrayed the role of Patrizia Reggiani in the 2021 film House of Gucci. Although the movie wasn’t considered a success, it was still nominated for an Oscar in 2022.
The movie deals with some emotional undertones against a constant emotion of rage and murder, there was a scene where Lady Gaga submerged herself in a bathtub. Believing in method acting, the actress revealed to Jake Gyllenhaal via Variety‘s Actors on Actors that she had no problem going over the top because she felt safe.
“I feel safe being in pain, I feel safe in art. I almost think I feel safer with art than I do in life. I feel protected by art… I feel art has saved me my whole life.”
Believing in method acting, Lady Gaga admitted how it is easier for her to remain in character rather than going in and out of a certain place to pretend to be someone.
“When I’m in character, I don’t pretend we’re not filming. I get people who are like, ‘Why did you keep your accent the whole time?’ Can you imagine going in and out of that s— all the time, and I would only get three takes? I had to be ready.”
Well, her method of acting had taken some drastic forms since Gaga felt that staying longer in the character of Patrizia Reggiane wouldn’t go away even after filming had ended!
Lady Gaga Stayed In Character After Filming Ended!
Portraying the historical character came with some difficulties. In an interview with ITV News, the actress revealed that her on-screen character got into her head although she argued that she was in total control of her brain.
“It started to play with my head later not in the six months leading up to the filming, it didn’t play with my head I was very much in control of the chaos and I feel it was in control of the chaos the whole time I mean there is a discipline to chaos.”
Although she went over the top for several of her scenes, House of Gucci received a rating of 6.6/10 on IMDB and 61% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2021 film is available to stream on Prime Video in the U.S.
