We still have to wait a few months before Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool makes formal entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the third installment of the movie scheduled to release in May of 2024 as part of Marvel’s Phase 5 slate.

However, such is the popularity of the Deadpool brand that fans are scouring social media to get an update or two on Wade Wilson’s next challenge. Ever since it was announced that Hugh Jackman will be returning as Wolverine to join hands with Deadpool, the hype surrounding the movie has only intensified.

One of the very reliable sources for anything Deadpool is Rob Liefeld, who created the coolest superhero out there with writer Fabian Nicieza. But recent comments from him suggest fans might have to look for a different hero on social media for the time being.

Rob Liefeld Explains Why He Can’t Share Any Details of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3

Ryan Reynolds‘ character is also known as Merc with a Mouth because his favorite thing apart from beating Ajax or The Headmaster is talking too much. We are certainly not insinuating that Rob Liefeld talks too much or anything, but at the same time, he has previously teased fans and sent them into a frenzy with a cryptic tweet.

In May, he caught a lot of attention by simply tweeting: “Set photo incoming”.

Much to the fan’s disappointment, the set photo never arrived. Considering he’s the character’s biggest fan, it’s understandable that he wants to share updates with other fellow fans, but as is typically the case (also understandable), studios are very strict when it comes to keeping details about forthcoming projects under wraps.

The same is the case with Marvel’s vision for Deadpool 3. In fact, Marvel and Disney have been keeping an eye on Liefield’s antics concerning the movie. Speaking to ComicBook at San Diego Comic-Con, he said:

“I can’t say anything about this movie as I promised Marvel and Disney. I got the call, so here I am saying nothing. I will say nothing. He tried, but I cannot say anything. There’s nothing to be said.”

Accordingly, it’s best for fans to scan elsewhere for future updates. Interestingly, the still image of Wolverine in his yellow costume walking alongside Deadpool was dropped on X by both Reynolds and Jackman. So yeah, it seems they are your best source for more behind-the-scenes details.

What Director Shawn Levy Said About Casting Rumors for Deadpool 3

The co-creator of Deadpool‘s comic book version isn’t the only one who has been bombarded with questions over the Ryan Reynolds starrer.

Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy, who has previously worked with his fellow countryman in Free Guy and The Adam Project, has also been asked to address some rumors.

In particular, the Canadian filmmaker was quizzed about potential casting rumors of Jennifer Garner joining the project as Elektra and Liev Schreiber portraying Sabretooth, one of Wolverine’s adversaries.

I’d rather not weigh in on that, but I’ll say this. The rumors of actors, singers, sports stars who are all apparently in Deadpool 3 are fabulous,” the 55-year-old told Entertainment Weekly.

Clearly, it’s best to just wait for Reynolds to make another tweet rather than diving deep into the sea of baseless rumors. As far as the cast list is concerned, apart from Reynolds and Jackman, the likes of Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Emma Corrin are all confirmed to be part of Deadpool’s first journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
