Nick Cannon became a parent for the very first time in 2011. He welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan with ex-wife Mariah Carey. But at that time, when Carey was pregnant, she did something that might come as a shocker to many.
Carey tried to hide her pregnant body. Yes, right, she avoided knowing her actual weight to maintain peace of mind. She even confined the change in her weight to health complications like diabetes and high blood pressure.
Mariah Carey Felt Shame Over Pregnant Body, Kept it Hidden From Husband Nick Cannon
Reuters reported in a news conference that Mariah Carey thought she had a health issue when she was pregnant. She also hid her body from her husband, Cannon, whenever possible. As she said:
“You think I would let Nick see me looking rancid like that.”
Carey shared with Rosie O’Donnell (via People) that she was determined to shed post-pregnancy weight through hard work. Although she admitted that it took a lot of work, she was able to make it:
“The first week, I lost 40 lbs. … of just water. It was just water, initially. When I started with the program, I lost at least 30 lbs. of weight that needed to be lost.”
Not only Carey but Cannon was even more nervous when his wife was giving birth. And out of the nervousness, he ended up making a humorous blunder.
Nick Cannon’s Hilarious Blunder During Mariah Carey’s Delivery
Nick Cannon may now experience the feeling of fatherhood, but he had butterflies in his stomach when he had a child with his (now ex-wife) Mariah Carey.
It was Cannon’s first time handling the pregnancy, and because of the panic, he rushed to the hospital when Carey was experiencing labor pain. But he ended up taking Carey to the wrong ward. The five times Grammy Award winner’s representative Cindi Berger once told People:
“Nick was very nervous and Mariah was completely calm. Mariah thought it was another soft labor and Nick was driving her to the hospital and she very calm and the music was blasting.”
She continued:
“When they walked into the hospital, [Cannon] was going the wrong way and the nurse redirected them to go [to] the maternity ward, and I said to her, ‘That’s right out of I Love Lucy, and she laughed.”
The TV & Radio host has welcomed ten more children with six other women since then.
