Among the roster of iconic characters, Jensen Ackles‘ depiction of Soldier Boy in the show won hearts and solidified his legacy as an actor who could play the role of a bada*s superhero.

But before he was ever considered for this character, the star claims that he had a serious shot at being a part of the MCU from the very beginning. In a recent panel at the SPNPHX J2 convention, the star revealed he once was being considered to play the role of Hawkeye in the MCU, which eventually went to actor Jeremy Renner since he had a busy schedule with Supernatural.

But along with that, later in his career, he was also offered to audition for the role of Deadpool, which was then produced by 20th Century Fox. He claimed that this time as well he was busy shooting for his drama series, which is the main reason why he couldn’t commit to this role at the same time, although he had a very good shot at it. During the panel, he said:

“There was definitely a movie that I was very much in talks about… I wasn’t available, so the train just kind of stopped there. But, had I been available, I would’ve had to, you know, jump through the studio hoops and jump through the, you know, producer hoops and stuff. But I had a really good shot, and it’s a movie that I really, really like. [What was the movie?] Deadpool.”

The role of the motormouth mercenary would’ve proven gold for the star, but due to his busy schedule, Ryan Reynolds had to take over, and the rest is history.

Why Is The Boys So Popular?

In a time when superheroes are made to be icons of righteousness and justice and portrayed as larger than life, The Boys’ formula V was to make them just as human as they would’ve been if they were real.

The show explores all the major themes of the world of superheroes in a world grounded in reality, where absolute power, if given in the wrong hands, could do more harm than good.

This raw and rustic depiction of a superhero dystopia with no limits to the depravity and diabolical nature of humanity was the reason why people were drawn to the show as no one else was exploring the idea as excellently as they did.
