For a long while now, Marvel Comics has had a boogeyman that they call Deadpool, the motormouth mercenary that has the ultimate power to break the fourth wall and do whatever he wants. And when it comes down to it, he is capable of more than just playing pranks and engaging in silly banter with the superheroes and villains from the pages of Marvel Comics.
In fact, there was an entire series, titled ‘Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe,’ which was part of the Deadpool Killogy event. Just as the name implies, this was an arc in the comic series where the gun for hire goes bats*it insane and embarks on a killing spree, leaving no hero or villain alive when he is done.
This is also the series where he manages to kill Wolverine, something that fans hope to not see in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine.
Deadpool Killed Wolverine In The Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe Comic Series
While everyone now knows just how brazenly quirky and hilarious Deadpool from the comics can be thanks to the big screen adaption of the Marvel Comics character by Ryan Reynolds, many may not realize just how deadly and terrifying he is when he goes off the deep end.
This side of the mercenary was shown in the Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe series by the publisher, where, along with what the title suggests, he also manages to slay Wolverine.
In this series issue, the motivation for the character to hunt down every other character from Marvel Comics was to free them of the chains that kept him fictional, which led to the death of almost every superhero and supervillain in the known lore of the comic series. And then, after sending The Avengers and The X-Men to meet their maker, he is confronted by none other than Logan himself.
When Logan sees Deadpool wearing the skin of Beast like a cloak after he comes to save X-23 and Daken who were held hostage by Wilson as bait, he is enraged by it and starts attacking him with the intent to kill. But that cloak that the merc was wearing was concealing a Carbonadium sword, and as soon as Wolverine comes into range, he unsheaths the blade and stabs him in the chest.
Since Carbonadium renders the mutant’s exceptional healing abilities useless, he is unable to continue the fight, which leads to Deadpool hacking his head away in one quick motion, killing the almost invincible superhero. He then continues with his motive to slay everyone else in the Marvel Universe.
What To Expect From Deadpool & Wolverine?
While fans can hope that nothing of the Deadpool slaying Wolverine sorts will happen in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool and Wolverine, they still have a lot to look forward to.
Along with the return of Hugh Jackman as Logan in the film, we might also see variants of the mutant in it (not Deadpool though, because he’s one of a kind in any existence), who is rumored to be Patch from the comics, who people might’ve also spotted in the trailer.
Along with that, there are now several reports that claim Henry Cavill might also make his appearance in the MCU as a variant of Wolverine who will don a long brown coat in the upcoming film.
Deadpool & Wolverine, in cinemas on 26th July 2024.
