Wanting to portray the on-screen love interest of Eddie Redmayne, Taylor Swift revealed that she flew all the way to London for a screen test. When she reached there, the makeup crew applied paint on Swift’s teeth which made them brown. Swift recalled that it was quite an embarrassing experience for her later on!

Being the on-screen love interest of Eddie Redmayne’s Marius Pontmercy, Swift sat down alongside the actor in an interview. Talking about the audition with Graham Norton on The Graham Norton ShowTaylor Swift revealed an embarrassing story at hand and how she screen-tested alongside Eddie Redmayne with brown teeth!

“This is immediately become a nightmare for me. I once died in his [Eddie Redmayne’s] arms in a screen test for ‘Les Mis’. They’re like ‘You know, do you wanna come to London for one last screentest and you’ll get a screentest with Eddie Redmayne’ and I’m like an experience I want to have”

She further continued,

“I get there and they’re like ‘Ok, so we really wanna like make you look like Éponine’. She had brown teeth. They’re like ‘We should paint you teeth brown for this’ and I’m like ‘So, you’re gonna do that after I meet Eddie Redmayne, right?'”

Taylor Swift further continued how everyone met her with brown teeth because that is just how it goes. The actress further went on to talk about how Eddie Redmayne behaved with her the first time he saw Swift in the makeup of Éponine.

As the interview progressed, Taylor Swift talked about how Eddie Redmayne had quite a positive reaction the first time he saw her in full makeup. Stating that Redmayne was crying, the actor shared that he had garlic breath and Swift had brown teeth during the screentest!

“You were so nice. I think when I met you…” Swift trailed off while Redmayne replied “I just had garlic breath”. Swift interjected by saying “And I had brown teeth. You were weeping and I just thought it was because of how I looked”

As always having a great sense of humor, Taylor Swift ultimately dropped out of the project and Samantha Barks took her role. The 2012 movie received a rating of 7.5/10 on IMDB and 70% on Rotten Tomatoes. With an ensemble cast made up of several iconic actors, the movie is available to rent on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
