In a recent announcement, the YouTuber announced that he would not continue creating videos. Stating that he missed the old times when he could just sit down with his wife and enjoy a game rather than playing it for content, MatPat announced that he knew he couldn’t do this forever.

MatPat Announces His Retirement

In a recently released video on YouTube titled “Goodbye Internet”, MatPat is seen sitting on the couch once again and addressing the world. The YouTuber stated that after running his channel (called Game Theory) for 12 years, he will be handing the reigns to someone else.

Game Theory is a channel that discusses the various theories and lore behind a game that was out of the ordinary. Taking hints from the smallest of things, the YouTube channel discussed various theories and alleged lore and how a certain story would turn out in the future. In MatPat’s Goodbye Internet, the video starts with the YouTuber saying “It’s not clickbait” as he proceeds to announce his retirement.

“For me, and my journey in this place, I always wanted to go out on a high note. And when you stop and look at the last year, this has been the best year in the Theorist lifespan, no joke. We knew that honestly, we didn’t want to do this forever.”

“As much as I love you and I love overthinking things, and I love theorizing, I don’t love late nights.”

As the video proceeded, Matthew Patrick went on to explain that it was indeed a tough decision for him but in the end, he missed those days when he could just sit on a couch and play a game without thinking about the content that he could create from it or the various theories he could ideate.

In his video, the YouTuber further stated that he missed the old days. Wanting to put his family first, MatPat stated that he misses the time when he would sit down and just play a game and not for the content.

“I miss the days where I could just sit down on the couch with [Stephanie] and play video games, and it’s not for content. Or I’m playing a game, and I’m not thinking about what theories are gonna come out of that. I miss it.”

Matthew Patrick revealed that his last video for The Game Theorists will drop on 9th March following which the YouTuber will be retired. People around the world are thanking Patrick for his infotainment services all these years and wish the YouTuber a happy retired life in the future.
