Bethesda came out with its open-world RPG game, Starfield last year. However, there is another Bethesda game that many have been eagerly waiting for. Yes, this is none other than The Elder Scrolls 6, which will serve as a sequel to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
What has disappointed many is both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6, were announced together. Bethesda took the stage during the E3 event in 2018, to announce both the games. While Starfield is already here, nothing is known about The Elder Scrolls 6.
Todd Howard talks about the mistake with Elder Scrolls 6
The Elder Scrolls series has turned out to be one of the best games from Bethesda. As such, it enjoys a huge fan base. Moreover, since the sequel was announced six years ago, and hasn’t been released yet, fans are not happy about it.
Keeping all of this in mind, Todd Howard previously stated that Bethesda made a critical mistake with The Elder Scrolls 6. And looking back, he would have done things differently.
During an interview with GQ ahead of Starfield’s release, Howard was asked if he regretted announcing The Elder Scrolls 6 early. This is because the game is still years away from its release. Howard replied,
I have asked myself that a lot. I don’t know, I probably would’ve announced it more casually
In the same interview, when asked about revealing more information about the game, Howard added,
It’s like… I don’t want to answer, but I want to be polite
Since Howard has been pretty tightlipped about the upcoming game, it is very obvious that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still far from launch.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim went on to become a massive success for the company. Additionally, it turned out to be the best game in the series. Moreover, since fans had to wait very long for the sequel, Bethesda needs to make sure that The Elder Scrolls 6 lives up to its hype.
The Elder Scrolls 6’s expected release date
Elder Scrolls fans got to know about The Elder Scrolls 6, almost after seven years its predecessor was released. And from then till now, Elder Scrolls fans are still biting their nails to hear more about the game.
Even after all these years, the developers haven’t revealed much about the game. Therefore, it is very difficult to predict a release date for the game, however, one thing is sure, the game won’t come out anytime soon.
The only thing that has been revealed about the game is that it is currently “in early development”, according to Bethesda’s Pete Hines. Fans can, though, rest assured that the game will be coming before Bethesda’s Fallout 5.
