Back in 2018, after the release of Skyrim, Bethesda announced that development was underway for Elder Scrolls 6. But 6 years since, there have been no additional updates or announcements that have led fans to question whether the game is ever going to hit the consoles.

With no specific release window declared, and the company focusing on making Starfield a success, there is little to no hope for Elder Scrolls 6 to release before 2026 at the earliest. If Xbox CEO Phil Spencer’s words are indeed true, then gamers might have to wait as long as 2028 to experience the world of Tamriel in Elder Scrolls 6.

Fans Mock Announcement Made via Bethesda

With such a huge delay in the release of the game and no clear release date in sight yet, any updates or leaks regarding the game are met by mocking on the part of the players and fans. With over 6 years worth of jokes in their arsenal, fans are going all out against Bethesda.

When a user posted that The Elder Scrolls VI was in a playable state, one fan took to mocking it instantly. Commenting on how big this must be for Bethesda to have a game in a playable state, the fan referenced all the times Bethesda has failed to live up to fan expectations with their games.

The new project of the company, Starfield, which saw the company create its first new world in 25 years, failed to live up to the hype so far. And fans are not at all happy that the company keeps dedicating resources towards the game when all fans want is the new entry in the Elder Scrolls franchise.

Several fans joined in the mocking of Bethesda in the comment section. One fan, who claimed to be a stan of the franchise, grudgingly admitted, “This joke is so good, and so unfair, but still so good. Even as a stan I have to acquiesce“. And this seemed to be a recurring theme as more and more users found the joke hilarious.

One fan posted, “Ok I laughed stupidly alone in front of my screen. wp” while another wrote, “This is a really fucking funny tweet. Thank you“. Another user went a step further to make fun of Bethesda saying, “doesn’t Bethesda say this about every one of their broken games prior to release?“.

Drawing on the presence of numerous bugs in the company’s games, one user commented, “Soon will be crunch time where they add all the bugs before launch.” to which one user said, “Hey, that’s not fair. A lot of those bugs have been in their games since Morrowind.“.

Elder Scrolls 6 Fans Wary of Bethesda’s Track Record

Elder Scrolls scene

Elder Scrolls 6 has been a much-anticipated game for over half a decade. But, Bethesda has a poor track record of delivering on their hyped promises. While Elder Scrolls Online has recently been reported to be doing well, other games of the company have given below-par performances, especially Starfield.

It remains to be seen how long fans will remain patient with Bethesda dillydallying with the release of Elder Scrolls 6. There has still not been a single official update since a blink-and-miss teaser dropped all those years back.

What are your expectations from Elder Scrolls 6? Do you think the mockery of Bethesda is warranted? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

I travel. I game. I write. In no strict order.

The single biggest lie told all around is, "It isn't that simple." It is simple, everything is. And that is what I emulate in my writing. No unnecessary jargons and no flamboyant flourish. Just what's needed to get your imagination going. After all mind has no limit, unlike the written word.
