Starr portrays none other than Homelander in The Boys. Homelander is viewed as the strongest supe produced by injecting Compound V in their blood. While Homelander remains insanely popular, he is not a good guy in the series.
Homelander Actor Admits His Character is Not a Good Guy
One thing that fans have always praised about The Boys is that the series never tries to sugarcoat the behavior of its characters. So much so that in the first three seasons, the writers have painted Homelander as a bad guy.
Despite that, many fans idolize the strongest supe in The Boys’ universe. Keeping that in mind, Antony Starr recently clapped back at fans for idolizing a character that is supposed to be a villain in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.
There’s a very strange thing that’s happened with the character, though he is clearly not a good guy. A lot of people have glommed onto him. There’s a weird element out there that actually kind of idolize him. I’ve seen some s— on Twitter and I’m like, ‘Wait, What? You are missing the point entirely!’
Starr expressed his character’s popularity as strange, despite not being a good guy by any means. With that being said, in no way should Homelander be a role model for anyone in the world.
After all, the character has been in constant limelight for butchering humans throughout the series. In fact, in the season 3 finale, Homelander used his deadly heat vision to murder a protestor in cold blood.
The first supe expected further protest from the crowd, but his actions were met with loud cheers. Thus, it set the premise for Antony Starr’s Homelander to become even more unhinged in The Boys season 4.
When Will The Boys Season 4 Release?
The Boys season 3 premiered back in June 2022. It has been more than a year since the release of the previous season, but there is still no concrete date set for the next season of the popular show.
Well, the show was previously expected to be released in late 2023. However, due to the WGA Strike, the next season’s release date was pushed to 2024. Even then, the creators haven’t set a concrete release date for the new season.
However, keeping the release of previous seasons, fans can expect The Boys season 4 to arrive on Amazon Prime Video in mid to late 2024.
Will fans experience more gore scenes by Homelander? Well, it is expected to happen if we take the history of the show into consideration.
