Spider-Man 4 is all the rage right now. Whether it’s the Tom Holland version or the Tobey Maguire one, people desperately want a new Spider-Man movie. As debates and rumors surrounding the Holland franchise continue, Sam Raimi, the director behind Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy, recently discussed the potential of teaming up again with the actor for a fourth installment. This possibility, which had been shelved years ago, after their collaboration on the 2007 movie, has the fans excited.
Will Fans Get a Fourth Spider-Man Movie with Tobey Maguire?
After witnessing the three Spider-Man come together in No Way Home, people realized how much they missed seeing their old pals donning the suit. Since then, rumors of Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi returning for a fourth movie have been the topic of discussion on various scales. It’s incredible to see the enthusiasm for something that started back in 2002.
Although Raimi had something in mind, with Tobey Maguire for their fourth run, it was ultimately abandoned in favor of rebooting the character with Andrew Garfield.
Sam Raimi, thus, in a recent WonderCon, revealed to Comic Book Resources,
“Well, I haven’t heard about that yet,–I did read that, but I’m not actually working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current ‘Spider-Man’ [movies], and the track there, and I don’t know that they’re going to go back to me, and say, ‘Well, folks, we can also tell that story!’”
He further added,
“I haven’t talked to Tobey about it, but maybe Marvel has, or Columbia Pictures. But, I just worked with Marvel on a movie called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So, I’m on great terms with them. I’m sure I would hear about it if it was in the works. I think so. I don’t know.”
Given that Tom Holland currently portrays Spider-Man, which Raimi admires and is a big fan of, he’s doubtful how his version would fit in. Yet, judging by his statements, he remains hopeful for the opportunity to one day tell his own Spider-Man story.
Thomas Haden Church is Ready to Return for the Fourth Sam Raimi Spider-Man Movie
Well, before Sam Raimi addressed the rumors, Thomas Haden Church, who portrayed Sandman, was one of the first to express his desire to return for a fourth Raimi Spider-Man movie. In a conversation with CBR, the actor revealed,
“Sandman… there’s been some rumors that they might ask me to do another Spider-Man, and I’d do it tomorrow. You know, they never asked me to show up in another movie, another Marvel film, but I think Sam [Raimi] is going to do another Spider-Man with Tobey [Maguire]. That’s the one that — I was actually, they had an option for me to do Spider-Man 4, when there was going to be a Spider-Man 4. They had an option on me to come back. So, if it happens, that would be fantastic. I’m just getting a little old.”
Although the rumors of Maguire donning the suit have always persisted, some people almost gave up hope until they witnessed it actually happening in No Way Home. Now that people have regained their hope, they believe there’s a possibility of a Maguire movie on the horizon.
But there’s a lot to figure out if one were to bring that particular version of Spider-Man back for a solo movie. Having said that, it is also important to note that currently, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is in an even bigger pickle.
The last movie saw him erased from everybody’s memory, including Zendaya’s MJ and Ned. However, with rumors suggesting a fourth Spider-Man movie is on its way, there are questions about how it can practically fix everything. There’s a lot of questions, and people demand their answers.
