David O. Russell’s Amsterdam featured a star-studded cast including Oscar-winning actor, Christian Bale who portrayed Burt Berendsen in the film. While the film garnered mixed to negative reviews from critics, many might be unaware of the lengths that the Marvel actor went to prepare for his role.

In an interview with EW, Bale recalled being a “weirdo stalker” to get inspiration for his role. He recalled a time when he followed a random stranger to observe their manners.

“I remember one time talking on the phone to David and I saw this amazingly interesting guy walking down the street. I just became a weirdo stalker following him and studying him. So he’s a big influence, whoever he is out there. I don’t know his name. He’ll never know, either.”

That weirdo stalking was loosely similar to an underrated Tom Cruise role who became a USP courier to prepare for his assassin role in Collateral.

Tom Cruise is among the best actors in the Hollywood industry right now. Being known for his super successful action flicks, the actor played the role of Vincent in the 2004 film, Collateral. To prepare for his assassin role, the actor did his best to delve deeply into his role which he is quite known for.

However, for that role to become his own, he went undercover as a USP courier in public to learn to get work done without drawing any attention to himself.

Given the stardom he is surrounded with, it was a difficult task to perform initially however he eventually succeeded in blending among the public which helped him in his role.

He successfully delivered a FedEx package with a getup and initiated a conversation with a random person for his assassin role.

This was not the first time that Bale’s role prep was linked to Cruise as the Dark Knight actor once shared that he was inspired by Tom Cruise for American Psycho. To be specific, Tom Cruise’s appearance at the David Letterman interview helped him in navigating his thoughts for what was required for his Patrick Bateman role.
