Apart from being an excellent actor, he is also very empathetic towards his co-stars and people in general. During the shoot of his film Interstellar, he observed that his co-star Anne Hathway seemed to be a little out of shape than she was supposed to be in for the hectic work schedule that the movie demanded, so he helped her to get better by making her quit her vegan diet, which turned out to be the cause of her discomfort.

One such instance happened when the Ford V Ferrari star was going out to dinner with his co-star Anne Hathaway during the shoot of Interstellar when he noticed that she was feeling off and even seemed to look tired. When Damon asked what she was having for food all these days, she revealed that she had been following a Vegan diet for a long time. Damon took notice and gave her a bit of the Salmon that he had ordered, and after having something other than vegetables and vegan substitutes after so long, she felt relieved. She said to Tatler:

“So then I was the only chick and I’m the vegan and everyone’s just going with the flow, So I asked [she puts on a small embarrassed voice]: ‘Is your fish local?’ And they said: ‘Do you see that fjord?’ So I had a piece of salmon and my brain felt like a computer rebooting.”

She also revealed that she had gotten into the Vegan diet when she was preparing herself for Les Misrables and had lost 25 pounds of weight within weeks of starting it. Then, she remained on the diet for the next 3 years until Damon intervened to make her feel better and quit Veganism because it wasn’t suiting her.
