During the premiere of the film, when the credits rolled, the Cannes audience performed a muted standing ovation for Harrison Ford’s latest adventure in the film. The applause lasted for five minutes.

The night at Cannes stored a lot more than the five-minute applause for Ford. The Blade Runner actor arrived on the red carpet with his wife Calista Flockhart where, according to Variety, the organizers announced the couple as “Indiana Jones and Calista Flockhart.” The audience welcomed Ford with a warm heart celebrating his legacy.

Surprisingly, Cannes festival director Thierry Frémaux invited Ford to the stage at the beginning of the night to honor him with Palme d’Or celebrating his greatest movie roles. Ford appeared in significant blockbusters including Star Wars, The Fugitive, and of course, Blade Runner. “I’m very moved by this,” Ford said after being honored with the award.

“They say when you’re about to die, you see your life flash before your eyes, and I just saw my life flash before my eyes. A great part of my life, but not all of my life. My life has been enabled by my lovely wife, who has supported my passion and my dreams, and I’m grateful.”

Ford’s wonderful movie career and legacy have inspired generations and influenced global fans. His Indiana Jones and other franchise have, in fact, created a fan cult with ever-increasing fanbase.

“But I’ve got a movie you ought to see. It’s right behind me. So let me get out of the way, and thank you again for this great honor.”

However, as Variety reports, the applause for Ford was only louder before the movie was played. The film does have elaborate action scenes but not sufficient enough to save some audience members from boredom in the 142-minute film. It was spotted when they whispered their boredom in French.

Earlier, Ford revealed that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was the last film of the franchise he would appear as Indiana Jones. “This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character,” the actor told Total Film magazine. “I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film.” As per reports, Disney is developing an Indiana Jones series for Disney+ but Ford said that he “will not be involved in that if it does come to fruition.”

Disney scheduled Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny released on June 30 this year.
