Martin Campbell directed the best Daniel Craig James Bond film Casino Royale. At the time, Henry Cavill was also considered for the role but it ultimately went to Craig. Campbell recently revealed how Cavill’s audition for Bond went during the time and gave his opinion about Cavill as the next Bond. He told Express.co.uk,

“He looked great in the audition. His acting was tremendous. And look, if Daniel didn’t exist Henry would have made an excellent Bond. He looked terrific, he was in great physical shape… very handsome, very chiseled. He just looked a little young at that time back then. Henry’s 40, so by the time he’s done the third one he’s going to be 50 and anything beyond that’s two, three years per Bond. He’s in good shape Henry, he’s a good guy. He did very well in the audition, but ironically he was too young.”

Cavill is already portraying a suave spy in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming film Argylle which also stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson. He will also star in Guy Ritchie’s WWII action film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare alongside Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, and Henry Golding.
