Disney is ready with yet another live-action remake with The Little Mermaid coming to life in the upcoming Halle Bailey-led movie. Even after the disappointing results received by the live-action Pinocchio, the House of the Mouse is once again ready to take the risk. As the teaser of the upcoming fairytale was unveiled in the latest D23 Expo, another piece of news started emerging on the Internet. The rumors of the Ariel actress Halle Bailey joining the MCU.
It is not the first time, Halle Bailey is asked about her MCU casting. Earlier also she turned down a bunch of rumors related to her casting but this time she rather expressed the character she wants to play.
Which character does Halle Bailey want to play?
When it was first announced that the Grammy-nominated singer and actress will spearhead The Little Mermaid project, she faced a basket of backlash. Most of the criticisms were subjected to her skin color as some people had a real problem with Disney race-swapping the fictional Disney Princess. Now looks like, Halle Bailey has also shown her interest in achieving greater heights with her interest in joining the MCU.
After receiving positive responses to the sneak peek of The Little Mermaid, she was asked which MCU character would be her dream role. To this the actress replied:
“I think any Marvel superhero would just be amazing. I mean I love Storm… I love so many. I mean that would just be cool.”
Although it is nothing but a mere desire of Halle Bailey, it can be said that if she’s introduced as the Mutant, that can be a major development in her career.
Can Halle Bailey’s desire be true?
With the concept of Mutants being already introduced in the recent Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, MCU can very soon bring the X-Men to this universe. Although they just only introduced the concept to a surface level, it can be presumed that very soon we will get the updates regarding it.
On the other hand, the MCU panel at D23 Expo is yet to announce several new updates. So it can be anticipated that we may get to know about some updates there. And who knows we may actually spot Halle Bailey as Storm someday.
