Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s faux feud has found its way into the core of Hollywood as an industry, being one of the more cherished and hilarious parts of it. The two have been at each other’s throats for almost as long as they have known one another. Things get even more interesting when their Marvel roles are added to the equation, with Deadpool and Wolverine sharing a similar dynamic to their own, in real life. This is why seeing the pair actually acknowledge their friendship in public is a rare occurrence.
Reynolds recently talked about Jackman helping him out when he was accepting his Emmy for Welcome to Wrexham. This, of course, was dipped in layers of sarcasm and back-handed compliments, something he is known for. However, the actor did end up making his message heartfelt in his own way.
Ryan Reynolds Called Hugh Jackman When He Needed An Emmy
Ryan Reynolds recently won an Emmy Award for his documentary series, Welcome to Wrexham, in which he stars alongside Rob McElhenney. His acceptance speech for this almost broke the internet, with him doing it as Deadpool rather than himself, holding an Emmy Award while he was at it. Afterward, the actor posted on his Instagram account, via People, where he revealed the back story about him holding an award he had not received yet.
“In order to accept the Emmy for Welcome To Wrexham, I needed to borrow someone else’s. Of course I called [Hugh Jackman]. Unsurprisingly, he wasn’t sure if he had an Emmy. Turns out he Does.” said Ryan Reynolds.
He mentioned that he had to borrow someone else’s award for this video and who better to call than his decorated frenemy. Hugh Jackman won an Emmy Award in 2005 in the category of Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program and allowed Reynolds to borrow it for this video. What neither of them knew was that there was something wrong with his statue.
Hugh Jackman’s Emmy Was Broken
When Hugh Jackman gave Ryan Reynolds his Emmy Award, the Logan actor noticed that there was something off about it. He asked if the award was supposed to look like that and Reynolds, who had not received it before, was unsure what Jackman was talking about. Not thinking much about it, the award was used for the video.
“He gives it to me, then asks, “Is it supposed to look like that?” It isn’t. It’s broken. I love this man.” Said Ryan Reynolds in the post.
After it was done and out for the world to see, the Deadpool actor realized that there was indeed, something wrong with Jackman’s statue. The Emmy Award is supposed to consist of a winged woman, which represents art, holding up an electron, which is supposed to represent science. The trophy that Reynolds was given had a broken electron, was tilted dangled on one side.
