The Lost actress has quite an iconic filmography to her name. Portraying the role of Tauriel in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, Lilly received worldwide fame and acclaim for her role. Lilly became a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when she portrayed the role of Janet Van Dyne in the 2015 film Ant-Man.
As the MCU became famous, Lilly reprised her role in the 2018 sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp and then the threequel in 2023, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The third part of the franchise was a terrible disaster that earned low ratings.
Although the following statements may have nothing to do with the failure of Ant-Man 3, Evangeline Lilly revealed that she is retiring from acting! Taking to her Instagram account, the actress posted a 2006 video of her when she was talking about her dreams.

And beneath the post, Evangeline Lilly wrote a heartfelt caption with words that felt like she was saying goodbye.
Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment. I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong.
However, this isn’t the first time that the actress announced her retirement. This has indeed happened before and Lilly decided to come back for the 2018 MCU film. Taking to X, several fans are in disbelief.

Well, in their defense, this isn’t the first time that Lilly has announced her retirement from acting. Starring in the TV series titled Lost, Evangeline Lilly announced her retirement after the series ended back in 2010.
However, when the MCU offered her a role as Janet Van Dyne in the Ant-Man franchise, Lilly came out of retirement for the role. In a 2018 interview with ABC News, the actress stated that she panicked because of sudden worldwide fame and retired early!
I was instantly launched into international stardom, and that was really uncomfortable for me. I instantly balked, didn’t know how to deal with it and felt very uncomfortable after that situation. I ended up deciding to retire after I finished ‘Lost.’
Well, taking to X, people think that this is just a PR stunt that Lilly is doing purposefully. Based on allegations that she wants to dodge MCU’s Phase 5 or that she wants to be in the spotlight for a while, here’s what people have to say about Lilly’s alleged retirement.

Good for her, but every actor that’s said this eventually returned because they can’t afford to keep up with their lifestyle. I hope she can find another source of income if she really wants to stay away from Hollywood.
