Garner has already found fame with the Netflix show. However, her career is set to get a big boost with Marvel Studios nabbing her to play an iconic character in the new Fantastic Four film. Garner is a rare prodigy, but her one fear on the sets of Ozark proved that she is still as human as anyone else.

Julia Garner refused to film a specific scene on Ozark due to her extreme phobia

In a sea of rising young talents, Julia Garner has already established herself as the one actress to keep an eye out for. So far in her career, Garner has already starred in gripping television shows such as The Americans and Inventing Anna, and she is always on the lookout for projects that will push the limits of her talents.

The 30-year-old actress really hit a home run as Ruth Langmore in the Netflix hit series. Garner was so impressive, that she ended up winning three Primetime Emmy Awards for her role as a supporting actress. Langmore was the soul of the show, breaking hearts and breaking noses with the same fervor.

The show was created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams. The plot revolves around the chronicles of Marty Byrde after his plans to launder money go horribly wrong. He crosses paths with Langmore, in his effort to undo the damage by hatching up an even bigger money laundering scheme.

Garner as Ruth was the highlight of the series, and she rarely needed a double, except for one scene. In an interview with The Independent, the actress opened up about refusing to shoot one particular scene in the first season due to her fear of rats.

“You’re going to laugh, it was the scene when I held the mouse in season 1. I have the worst fear of rodents. I can’t stand them,” she said. “They had to use a hand double – I couldn’t breathe and I nearly got a panic attack. I’m like the least badass person on the planet,” she said.

Garner might be frightened by rodents, but she had no problem getting her hands dirty otherwise. This will come in handy in her new Marvel film.

Julia Garner joins the cast of The Fantastic Four

The Marvel film with a team of four super-powered beings is ready for lift-off. Deadline reports that Garner will now join the cast as a Shalla-Bal version of the team’s archnemesis, the Silver Surfer. Unfortunately, this casting news has upset a lot of fans.

The team made its way to the big screen for the first time in 2005, with a star-studded cast, before being rebooted in 2015. Now, Marvel is ready to bring back the heroes with an impressive lineup. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm.

The film will be helmed by Matt Shakman, who brought WandaVision to life. The script will be written by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Eric Pearson, and Ian Springer.

As of now, there is no word on the plot, but hopefully updates will follow soon. The studio is aiming for a July 25, 2025, release.
