Buchanan told Variety:

“Ever since I found out Robert Pattinson was playing Batman, he’s one of my favorite actors, I was like I need to play his Robin. That is my role. I need that one so badly.”

Growing up in Ohio, the 22-year-old actor embarked on his acting journey with appearances in television movies and occasional TV roles. However, his significant breakthrough came with a six-episode stint on The Fosters, ultimately paving the way for notable parts in Designated Survivor, Game Shakers, and his starring role in Cobra Kai.

Tanner Buchanan’s martial arts journey started with Taekwondo during his pre-teen years, though his pursuit of a black belt was curtailed by his demanding acting commitments. Prior to landing his role in Cobra Kai, he commenced training in Muay Thai, equipping him with formidable combat skills.

Buchanan told Cinemablend:

“I really want to play Robin to Robert Pattinson’s Batman. I’m very specific about what I want to do with that and then maybe go on to play Nightwing. I’ll go down a deep hole if I keep talking about superheroes, so I’ll leave it at that.”

In his conversation on the Just for Variety podcast, Buchanan expressed his readiness to take on the role of Robin in any rendition, inclusive of the character’s canonical bisexuality, as depicted in the August edition of Batman: Urban Legends. This demonstrates his versatility and eagerness for the part.
