Kate Winslet is one of the most successful actresses in Hollywood. Having the record of being the youngest person to have received six Oscar nominations (seven in total), she has received multiple other accolades, making her tower above her contemporaries and predecessors. However, the Titanic star hasn’t been as successful when it comes to her love life.
After having been in many high-profile relationships and two marriages that ended in divorce, Winslet once revealed what she looks for the most in her partners.
Kate Winslet Reveals Her Ideal Kind Of Partner
Kate Winslet has had her share of on-screen romances and relationships but when it comes to her personal life, the celebrated actress has been divorced twice. Her first marriage was with James Threapleton, which was relatively short-lived. She then got married to her Revolutionary Road director, Sam Mendes, but they separated after several years.
In an old interview with Vanity Fair, while still married to Mendes, the actress had revealed her ideal relationship and partner,
“I need to be looked after. I’m not talking about diamond rings and nice restaurants and fancy stuff—in fact, that makes me uncomfortable. I didn’t grow up with it and it’s not me, you know. But I need someone to say to me, ‘Shall I run you a bath?’ or ‘Let’s go to the pub, just us.’ I mean, the things that make me happiest in the whole world are going on the occasional picnic, either with my children or with my partner. Big family gatherings, and being able to go to the grocery store—if I can get those things in, I’m doing good.”
It was for his small acts of love that she had loved her ex, Sam Mendes (via Harper’s Bazaar). Currently, the actress is happily married to businessman Edward Abel Smith.
Kate Winslet Is Happily Married Now
Kate Winslet secretly married her now-husband and the nephew of Business tycoon Richard Branson, Edward Abel Smith in 2012. Formerly known as Ned Rocknroll, he met the acclaimed actress at his uncle’s island when Branson’s mansion caught a massive fire.
The couple now share a son and live a very private life. In an interview with The New York Times, the actress gave a rare glimpse into her life with her now stay-at-home husband Smith.
“He’s the superhot, superhuman, stay-at-home dad. He looks after us, especially me. I said to him earlier, like, ‘Neddy, could you do something for me?’ He just went, ‘Anything.’”
She added how despite being severely dyslexic, he regularly helps her practice lines. And we couldn’t be more happy to see the actress finally happy and living her best life.
